A monumental collector's item of exceptional crystal quality – a massive pyrite cluster with hundreds of perfectly formed cubic crystals, interspersed with clear rock crystal points. Weighing 3.6 kilograms and measuring 25 cm in length, this specimen displays the full splendor of "fool's gold": intense metallic luster in gold and bronze tones, geometrically perfect cube shapes, and a three-dimensional architecture reminiscent of a futuristic skyline. The scattered rock crystals create a captivating contrast between the metallic pyrite cubes and transparent quartz points. A museum-worthy statement piece for discerning collectors.
MINERALOGICAL FEATURES
Perfect cubic crystallization
Hundreds of individual pyrite crystals of varying sizes – from millimeter-sized cubes to impressive 2cm cubes – are scattered across the entire ledge. The geometric perfection of the right-angled shapes, the characteristic striations on the cube faces, and the intense metallic luster make each individual crystal a masterpiece of nature. Pyrite crystallizes in the cubic system and here exhibits ideal cube, octahedral, and pyritohedral forms.
Three-dimensional architecture
The formation is not flat, but three-dimensional – pyrite crystals grow in all directions, creating a complex, sculptural form. The lower layers display densely packed, smaller crystals, while the upper areas showcase spectacular, freestanding large crystals. This architectural arrangement is reminiscent of a golden city or a futuristic crystal skyline.
Rock crystal accompaniment
Between the golden pyrite cubes grow clear to slightly smoky rock crystal points, creating a dramatic contrast. The transparent quartz crystals refract the light and enhance the brilliance of the metallic pyrite surfaces.
LOCATION: PERU
The most spectacular pyrite clusters with cubic crystallization come from Peru. The combination of perfect geometry, monumental size, and rock crystal accompaniment makes Peruvian pyrite highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
