Which minerals and crystals do we use at Crystals & Minerals?
What are minerals?
Each mineral is unique.
Crystals and minerals are natural treasures formed over millions of years through geological processes. They are valued by collectors as well as by those who appreciate their aesthetic qualities and material history. They are available in various forms – as collectibles, cut crystals, and gemstones – and can be used for collecting, decoration, or artistic purposes.
Crystals: These form through an ordered, atomic structure and are valued for their aesthetic and material properties. They can be found in various shapes and sizes – including loose stones, tumbled stones, or incorporated into jewelry.
Minerals: These are natural, inorganic solids with a specific chemical composition and crystal structure. Collections can include both inexpensive pieces for beginners and high-quality specimens for experienced collectors.
Areas of application:
• Collectibles: Many people collect minerals because of their beauty and rarity.
• Decoration: Both crystals and minerals are often used as decorative elements in homes and gardens.
• Jewelry: Many crystals are used to make jewelry and can also serve as talismans or amulets.
Which minerals do I use?
A mineral (from Middle Latin aes minerale – “mine ore”; coined in the 16th century following the French model) is, in contrast to a rock, a single element or a single chemical compound that is generally crystalline and was formed by geological processes.
The minerals I use in my artwork are mostly collected locally by us in the Bergisches Land region.
We mainly find rock crystal, quartz, flint and pyromorphite locally, which I like to use in my artworks alongside rose quartz, amethyst, emerald, amber and citrine.
