A large-format resin composition from the series “Gifts of the Earth,” named after the alchemical term for the primordial substance of all being. The work combines grounding garnet with protective obsidian in deep shades of red, black, and gray.
“Materia Prima” – in medieval alchemy the hypothetical substance from which all matter was supposed to arise – serves as the conceptual starting point for a composition that oscillates between transformation and permanence. Garnet, a silicate mineral in an intense red, meets obsidian, a volcanic glass with a deep black color.
The color palette evokes geological processes – magma, solidification, crystallization. A dialogue between alchemical symbolism and mineral reality.
