The Magic Mountain – Rock Crystal Composition

A large-format resin composition featuring a three-dimensional mountain formation as its central motif. Measuring 60 × 80 cm, organic color gradients combine with genuine rock crystals and quartz from the Bergisches Land region, embedded as structural elements in multi-layered epoxy resin.

The work employs earthy brown, gold, and ochre tones, enhanced by gold leaf accents. The central mountain formation was created using an elaborate layering technique—multiple resin pours with varying viscosities generate a tactile depth and give rise to a geologically inspired landscape. The embedded crystals are not merely decorative but form the "peaks" and "edges" of the composition.

A circular gold disc hovers above the formation, acting as a light source and activating the work's entire color palette. The high-gloss resin surface creates a reflective depth that reveals new details depending on the angle of the light. A fusion of contemporary art technique, geological inspiration, and meticulous craftsmanship.
