Castor and Pollux A tribute to friendship
A resin composition that translates the Greek myth of the Dioscuri – Castor and Pollux – into abstract imagery. On a 70 × 30 cm surface, two circular centers are connected by organic color gradients, embedded with natural crystals: rock crystal, pyrite, lava rock, moonstone, amethyst, flint, and ruby.
Mythology tells of two inseparable brothers – Castor, who was mortal, and Pollux, who was immortal. When Castor died, Pollux asked Zeus to share his immortality with his brother. Zeus placed them both in the sky as the constellation Gemini, where they remained united forever.
The work utilizes this duality: two circles, different in color and material composition, but visually connected by gold accents and shared crystalline structures.
The minerals used – from transparent rock crystal to metallic pyrite and deep red ruby – create both contrasts and connections. Not a symbolic illustration, but a contemporary interpretation of interconnectedness and duality.
