MINERALOGICAL FEATURES:
Rare copper-zinc mineral
Aurichalcite is a rare secondary mineral that forms in the oxidation zone of copper and zinc deposits. Its characteristic acicular to hairy crystals grow in dense aggregates and form velvety, turquoise-blue coatings. Aurichalcite specimens of this quality and size are extremely rare on the collectors' market.
Intense turquoise color
The vibrant turquoise to blue-green color is caused by copper ions in the crystal structure. The velvety crystal aggregates exhibit varying color intensities, from light aquamarine to luminous turquoise to deep blue-green – depending on the crystal density and the angle of the light. This color intensity is characteristic of Turkish aurichalcite deposits and makes them particularly sought after by collectors.
